The Road Warriors def. Arn Anderson & Barry Windham by DQ in 8:10
This was the last Saturday TBS appearance the Road Warriors would make as a team for the next six years, which is particularly noteworthy because they dated back to Georgia Championship Wrestling. Despite Ole having a piece of the Georgia office then and having just become the new booker in WCW, they were finally on their way to the WWF for colorful shoulder pads and, eventually, Rocco. I just said during my Clash XIV review that I wish we’d gotten more Barry and Arn as a team, and here they were filling the void left by Tully and Arn on TBS when they left JCP in 1988. Despite being taller and visibly thicker than Hawk and Ankmal, Barry was getting press slammed and thrown around like Tully Blanchard. He also bumped and sold his ass off for the muscle-bound duo. The Center Stage crowd was so into the Warriors and the match that heel commentator Jim Cornette had to acknowledge it. There was a super awkward spot in the match where Sid Vicious – who was wearing his fucking tuxedo – got in the ring and the ref rang the bell. It looked like an obvious DQ, but the match kept going. It appears as if Sid jumped his cue because there was a DQ when Ole came down and got into the ring with Sid later, so Sid likely messed up the timing. Sting, Paul Orndorff, and other Dudes with Attitudes saved the LOD from a Horseman beatdown and cleared the ring. The match was reminiscent of your LOD vs. Horsemen matches, only shorter, and the botched finish here brought down what was otherwise a fun match. Even on their way out the door, the company wasn’t asking the Road Warriors to lay down. That was probably a wise health decision. **
