The Context 

Here we have Ted DiBiase talking about working with Randy Sbage since we just watched one of their matches. Ted says he liked working with Savage, but was surprised by how much Savage liked mapping everything out. DiBiase said he understands Randy just wanted it to be perfect, but he talked about calling things more in the ring himself. Ted says he told Savage that the only way they could plan everything was if Savage allowed DiBiase to call some things on the fly. 

The Verdict 

I’ve heard DiBiase be less flattering in this description of Savage planning matches, but that was also pre-Savage’s passing away. Either way, it does sound like it was a clash of styles to a degree, which is why the matches never quite seemed to reach the level of the performers.
