This may have been the moment Flair came up with the “You sold sunglasses, I sold tickets” line towards Bret.

Bret Hart & Randy Savage def. Shawn Michaels & Ric Flair in 16:26

This match was taped at a TV taping and later released on a few different home video releases. Randy was the WWF champion and Bret the IC champion, so there was that hook besides Savage feuding with Flair and Bret with Shawn on the house show loop. After posting the audio from Ric Flair losing his mind on Bret Hart, I figured this would be a somewhat intriguing match. Flair did light up Bret with a few chops, something Bret has gone on record as hating. Savage sold for the babyfaces, but he also did it in a way that made it clear this was more about filling content for tapes than about a big match. Honestly, you can say that about everyone in the match, as it was good but, not great. One thing I noticed during Bret’s hot tag was that Shawn was more of a bump-and-feed guy than Flair for Bret, and that’s probably another reason Bret didn’t like working with Flair as much as a babyface. The ref was distracted a few times during this match, leading to a lot of shenanigans, but Savage ran Shawn into Randy’s ex-manager, Sherri, and rolled him up for the win. The match was simple and quite good, but not a barnburner or anything. ***
