Brock Lesnar def. Rey Mysterio in 12:13

Brock has already turned babyface and back heel again in WWE, and was gone altogether in less than four months. This (mis)match was in Rey Mysterio’s hometown of San Diego, so there’s always a chance they’ll set him on fire or something. Brock mocked Rey early like the big jock asshole you know he’s been since he was a teenager. They worked the match beautifully, and Rey used his speed and would get a few things in, but then Brock would decimate poor Rey with some careless-looking powerbomb or something similar. They botched the most complicated spot in the match, where Brock was supposed to launch Rey to the top rope, only for Rey to come back down with a rana on Brock. Rey slipped off the top, and they redid it, only less impressively. The finish was a Brock Lock, which was apparently a Brock submission finisher I’ve blocked from memory. Brock wraps his opponent’s leg around his head and kind of twists his nemesis. Rey eventually tapped out, despite it taking a little bit for Brock to lock in the move. The match was fun, but a little messy and not a classic or anything. **3/4
