The Context

Here we have Ken Anderson in a short clip saying he believes Randy Orton and John Cena decided to get rid of him from WWE, which is why he was released. Ken discussed the famous Raw in question, where he supposedly dropped Randy Orton on his head, thus leading to his release, and Ken was adamant that Orton’s head never hit the mat. While he was discussing the incident, there were replays and slow-mos of the bump in question, and Orton appeared to land with a typical flat-back bump.

Analysis

Ken Anderson obviously knows the politics better than I do, but long before this night, his diminishing backstage reputation had become well known online. There was a tag match on Raw where Shawn Michaels gave him a simple hip toss. The way Anderson bumped caused Shawn to shoot him a death stare of absolute confusion. While it’s certainly possible Cena and Orton led some charge to get him out of the company, it was very clear that Anderson somewhat justifiably developed a reputation for being difficult to teach or work with. The lack of accountability also stunted Anderson’s growth as a performer to the point that WWE no longer felt obligated to keep him around.
