The Context

Here we have Jim Ross on his podcast talking about the old WCW US tag team titles that we revisited this morning. Conrad wanted to know if the titles themselves were necessary, and referenced some of the more unforgettable forgettable titles in JCP, like the Central States and WESTERN STATES HERITAGE titles. Jim was pretty adamant about not needing the championships, saying most of these secondary titles were used to appease talent by making them think they might make more money or obtain a sign of respect. He was very blunt about his distaste for how backward the thinking was, and he didn’t mince words (shocking). 

Analysis 

We love Jim Ross, but…BOOOOOO! There were times the JCP/WCW tag division lacked the depth to have a secondary title, but there were others when the scene was absolutely loaded. If having a title shot is a catalyst for a feud instead of constantly doing angles up and down the card.
