The Context

Here we have Kevin Nash being interviewed at a live event, discussing his return to WWE in 2011. Nash went into detail about a promo Punk did in front of Nash, where Vince McMahon instructed Nash not to respond. In this clip, Nash kind of fantasized about kicking Punk’s ass at the time. Nash was asked if he didn’t have his match with Punk because he was physically unable to, but Nash said that wasn’t the case. Instead, Nash said he was taken out of the planned match with Punk because Hunter was pissed about a comment Punk made about Stephanie having Hunter’s balls in her purse. Hunter told Nash, “I’m so tired of that skinny fat son of a bitch. You’re not wrestling him, I’m beating him.” He also said he couldn’t believe how friendly the two seem now.

Analysis

I remember this time well because it was two months after Punk beat Cena for the title at Money in the Bank. At the time, no one could believe Hunter won that match, and apparently, that was very far from the plan. I don’t blame Hinter for being annoyed with Punk because it seems like there were a lot of people who could relate to that throughout Punk’s career, but making a major booking decision like that because of some unplanned shoot comments in interviews seems horribly misguided. Still, “skinny fat son of a bitch” is priceless.
