Brian Lee & Taz def. Tommy Dreamer & Dr. Death in 6:57 

This match was from the aptly-named “The Doctor Is In” show at the ECW Arena, thirty years ago to the day. The crowd was going apeshit for Doc, giving him a hero’s welcome before the match and loudly chanting his name. Taz was in the throes of his badass gimmick, as the announcers kept calling him “The Ultimate Fighter.” Of course, this means they kept teasing him, and former All-American collegiate wrestler, Doc, finally tying up. They did eventually do some chain wrestling to pay it off, ending with a doctorbomb that Lee broke up. “Shootfighting” aside, this was 1996 ECW, so of course, Dreamer took a T-bone suplex off the eagle’s nest through a table, and Beulah and Bill Alfonso had an in-ring squirmish, capped off by Doc launching Alfonso onto Team Taz at ringside. The Lee chokeslam on a garbage can on Dreamer for the finish was a little tame after everything else we saw, but this was still a fun match with a ton of heat. ***
