The Context 

Here we have Jerry Lawler talking about Jim Cornette. He went on a kind of long history lesson about Cornette’s career, which led him to believe he gave Cornette his first managing job in the business. Lawler also discussed how he thought Cornette not only imitated him but also started taking promos from him verbatim. He talked about Cornette’s time in WWE. This interview was recorded in 2001, and even then, Lawler said he thought Cornette was sent away from the main roster in WWE because people hated hearing him complain about modern wrestling. Lawler said Jim was a very stubborn guy and didn’t like that wrestling had changed. 

Analysis

There is some correlation between Cornette and Lawler’s promo styles, but I never thought he did a Lawler imitation. Maybe I need to look more closely. 

Obviously, the fucking hilarious part of this was Cornette having about three consecutive decades of having some serious qualms with modern wrestling.
