The Context
Here we have Brutus Beefcake burying the NWO, even if that was the intention. In fact, he started by saying he looked better than 90% of them and wrestled better than 95%. He believes that so much that he gave the same percentages minutes later in this clip. He talked about all of the crazy gimmicks he had in WCW, and said he only had to use them because Vince illegally trademarked “Brutus Beefcake,” a name he had had his whole career. Brutus was told he was going to be let go by WCW because he had too many gimmicks, so he trained and transformed his look into that of the Disciple. He said no one could believe it was him, but even though it kept his job, WCW never let him wrestle. He also buried the One Warrior Nation, as any sane person should.
Analysis
Holy shit, there’s a lot here. First, Brutus didn’t have that name his whole career and made a living wrestling as Dizzy Hogan, Dizzy Boulder, and a bunch of other names pre-WWF. And being a better wrestler than 95% of the group is an impressively delusional level of mental acuity, especially if not induced by any substances. I thought Brutus was decent right before his accident, but even at his peak as a worker, he wasn’t better than 95% of the 1998 NWO.
