Blood Gallows of Retribution Match: Raven def. Vampiro in 12:47

Okay, so the stip is some sort of convoluted match where one wins by strapping one of the four dog collars hanging on each side of the top rope to your opponent, then throwing them over the top and hanging that person until they can’t continue. Make sense? No? What’s wrong with you? It’s “just wrestle-ing,” as Vince Russo would say. Raven was part of that group of people in the Russo circle driving in from Atlanta for these tapings, so I’d bet my firstborn that Raven came up with the gimmick name in some long car ride below the Mason-Dixon. If you’re wondering what “can’t continue” means in relation to the stip, they treated the hanging spots like a garden variety sleeper hold and raised the arm three times. Vampiro, who is self-trained, had a match where it stood out more than normal in the way he took moves or did things. His lifetime batting average on that spinkick from the top has to be in the Bob Uecker range. Both men bled because what would this be without it? They did a spot where Vamp had two dog collars on opposite sides of the ring, having him “tied up” in the middle. Well, at least until he remembered he could remove the collars himself. Fuck, this was really stupid in name, stipulations, and execution. The trifecta of bullshit. Raven eventually won by hanging Vampiro until he passed out. The fans were mostly into this, but there were some really rough moments. *1/4
