04/10/1988 NWA Main Event: Barry Windham def. Tully Blanchard in 15:35. 

In case you missed it, I just watched a match between these two from January 1988, and now we have this in April. I loved their first match, and while this wasn’t a classic pro wrestling babyface fighting from underneath, a good chunk of it was still awesome. They traded control a lot early, and there was a spot where Tully threw Barry over the top behind the ref’s back, and Barry took an increased crash into the guardrail. They did a spot where the ref was distracted and missed Arn Anderson climbing to the top and Steve Williams slamming him off. Fuck, you can argue the logic, but it was awesome. They flubbed the finish where the ref wouldn’t see JJ holding Tully’s hands while he blocked a sunset flip, but he clearly saw them and tried not to botch the finish. Dusty Rhodes came down and hit JJ so that he let go of Tully, and Barry got the sunset flip for the win. It’s too bad the referee saw the interference he wasn’t supposed to, but this was still a great, wild fucking match. ****
