(07/04/1983) Lumberjack Match: Bruiser Brody def. Kamala by DQ in 8:05 (with Skandar Akbar): Bruiser bled very early. Kamala kept biting the open wound, which comes off much more disgusting in 2021 than it did in 1983, but Kamala was a bloodthirsty savage, playing up every African stereotype he could at the time, short of shooting a lion in the ring. This was a pretty good brawl, perhaps a little basic in nature, but the crowd loved Brody. Brody always did an excellent job of selling without killing his aura, which was the same here. The finish came when Brody finally landed at the feet of the heel lumberjacks, and they attacked him for a very lame DQ finish. The lumberjacks weren’t even really utilized much until the finish, which makes it come off even lazier. All the guys came in to eventually break up the post-match brawl. This wasn’t bad, but the stip was almost meaningless to the match, other than to help provide a crap finish. That seriously dragged it down. **
