03/09/1991 USWA: Steve Austin def. Jeff Jarrett by DQ in 7:14. This was from Memphis TV in the studio, but unfortunately, we had Michael St. John paired with Dave Brown because Lance was still in WCW and barely being used. Austin looked fucking gigantic here, and would have probably made a young Terra Ryzing’s dick hard. His thighs were like fucking tree trunks, and his abs were about as tight as you’ve ever seen them. No wonder WCW came calling shortly after this. The man looked like a human action figure. He didn’t even have two full years in the ring yet, and while he was very good overall for his experience level, some things still needed work. He did a forward roll into a spear in the corner, where he was supposed to post himself, which looked goofy and mistimed. Jarrett was always a strong babyface in this era and showed why he had one of the most underrated dropkicks of the time with a clean one to Austin’s chin. Jamie Dundee was out there with Austin as a heater, and both men did a good job doing basic southern rasslin heel shit to get heat. Austin was on the floor, and Bill Dundee came out and BLASTED a piece of wood over Austin’s head for the DQ. The match was solid, but not particularly overwhelming. **
