Here’s a Hint

The Context

We have a clip of Underaker being asked about the most underrated guy he’s ever worked with.

It took him a while to come up with the answer, but he settled on a man whose wedding he was a groomsman in – JBL. Taker went through the different incarnations of the Bradshaw gimmick and concluded that he became a different person when he put on that cowboy hat as JBL, rather than Justin Hawk Bradshaw. It sounds like he’s specifically talking about the kind of heat JBL could get with the crowd, but that’s where he landed.

Analysis

Perhaps JBL is underrated overall in terms of his total work, but part of that is due to some of the insufferable WWE TV with JBL as a top guy and champion. Fans became very resentful because he was the frontman for a very rough era in WWE TV. In fact, JBL and Taker did work a feud during that time that didn’t draw well at all and resulted in some matches that didn’t get over with the live crowd. I think fans resented the size of the push more than the performer’s talent—nonetheless, an interesting selection by Taker.
