The Context

Buff Bagwell was questioned about ECW wrestling as a whole and about The Sandman. He was being so glad-handy with Sandman at first; I thought this would end up being clickbait, but the Buffer never disappoints.

He went into detail about how he was working with Sadman in WCW in Vegas and was supposed to lose. Buff claimed he went to Eric Bischoff and told him that his loss made it look like ECW was the superior promotion, and he complained that guys always won when they came into the company. Apparently, he didn’t understand that has been pro wrestling booking forever, so there’s that.

Although it is possible that Buff didn’t watch much wrestling since he tried to remember who else was involved in the match with Sandman, he blanked and said, “The guy with the flames on his head…Big Bam Bigelow.” He said it again to confirm what he said the first time. Thank God. Not only were they in WCW for over 2 years, but Bam Bam also main-evented a WrestleMania against Lawrence Taylor. Those may have been the days Marcus was, shall we say, spending a lot of time with the young ladies. Or fucking. Whichever. Either way, I love the idea of Buff living in the most self-involved ways possible. Cheers!

Analysis

It’s Buff. I hope the man is recovering from his recent amputation and say this with love, but we love Buff Bagwell because we can’t trust his memory or that he might be less than honest. I will say that the match did take place on 04/05/1999 in Las Vegas (as Buff said), and that Bigelow was involved in the finish. The story doesn’t make him look good, but who knows if Buff is even aware of that? There’s some smoke to this for sure.

If it makes you feel better, Buff was insistent that they’re friends.
