10/12/1992 WWF Prime Time Wrestling: Bret Hart def. Mike Enos by DQ in 9:52.
I’m a big Mike Enos and Destruction Crew fan in general, not to mention the greatness that is Bret Hart. The Beverly Brothers gimmick made zero fucking sense for two guys, the build of Enos and Wayne Bloom, and the Genius pairing didn’t work. Neither did working a lot of matches with the Bushwackers. The whole package was a massive waste of talent.
Ironically, the night this taped match aired on Prime Time, Bret was beating Flair for the WWF title. The match itself was good. Enos got a lot better overall as a worker after doing more New Japan, but he wasn’t at that level yet. Still, both men worked well together, despite the crowd that seemed smack dab in the middle of a marathon TV taping, as they were all fairly comatose. Enos took most of the match, but no one fucking believed Blake Beverly was beating Bret Hart in 1992. Bret just wrapped up the five moves of doom and was going for the sharpshooter when Beau Beverly ran out and distracted fhe ref. Blake blasted Bret from behind and got the win. Sgt. Slaughter came out as the new VP and reversed the decision, calling for a DQ. Ugh, what an awful finish. As mentioned, I like Mike Enos, but a clean job against Bret in a good match would have done him better than the lame DQ finish here. **1/2
