The Context

Here we have Scott Hall in a very early RF shoot talking about Curt Hennig and Ric Flair.

Hall put Hennig over a ton for helping him in his career. He didn’t mention Curt being kind enough to carry his ass when they were a tag team in the AWA, but more so about how he helped him in the WWF become a better performer. It should be noted that Hall doesn’t really become a good, solid performer until his WWF run after eight years as a pro working all over the world, so it’s nice to hear Curt had that kind of impact.

Hall also talked about watching Vince McMahon chew out Ric Flair and Randy Savage in the middle of their WWF title change, a story often told by others. He detailed what that meant to him as a new guy who hadn’t been there long.

And then he went on to bury Ric Flair, saying Flair hurt all the boys when he left WCW with the title in 1991, and that Hall didn’t trust him in the WWF the year after, as a result, because Flair was champion again. He also noted that he and Nash did the right thing for business and put over people before they left the WWF.

Analysis

There are a couple of things to unpack here.

I question whether Hall legit felt this way in 1992 or if some of his later heat with Flair was a catalyst for all this. It should be noted that I’ve heard Nash say the boys were rooting Flair on when he had his contract impasse with WCW in 1991.

It’s also funny whenever Hall or Nash uses a particular example of their professionalism and ignores the countless other times they were unprofessional or selfish.
