US Tag Team Title Match
Barry Windham and Ron Garvin def. Midnight Express by DQ in 8:52
Yep, this is THE match. Windham and Garvin were a team I wish there were more of. Windham was dominating both men before the commercial break, and when they came back, he was taking the heat. Man, Barry was such a good fucking seller. He had the crowd living and dying on him, making the tag. The Midnights worked some great hope spots to keep the crowd engaged, but didn’t have to do much more than beat on Windham. Garvin got a brief hot tag, but the Midnights took some tremendous big heel bumps. Cornette came behind Garvin and absolutely lit his ass up with a fireball for the DQ. It was short, but also very good for what it was. ***1/4
Everyone was checking on the BURNT Ronnie Garvin, when heel and (Kayfabe) brother, Jimmy Garvin, came to check on Ronnie. Jimmy and Windham walked Ronnie to the babyface locker room, where Garvin really turned up the selling. Then, Jimmy darted across the hall to the heel locker room he occupied up until about three minutes ago, and went right for Cornette. Other heels and Windham had to pull Jimmy off Corny. As if all of that wasn’t enough, we get a Jimmy walking Ronnie to the car and putting him inside so he could valiantly drive his brother to the hospital. Everyone remembers how great the fireball looked, and rightfully so, but what makes the angle itself so successful is how everyone played their parts after. Jimmy Garvin was excellent here, and we haven’t even gotten to him doing a five-star promo cementing the turn.
Of course, all of this was fucking money. As a match, it was good; as a television presentation, it was excellent.
