The Context 

Here, One Man Gang talks about being fired by Dusty Rhodes in WCW in 1991. It’s interesting to note that he gives his salary as $750 per night. That’s pretty good fucking money in 1991. The inflation calculator has that at $1,772 in today’s money, and they were still running close to nightly shows at this point. 

Gang talked about WCW building up a splash vs. splash in an epic battle with the might PN NEWS. Yo baby, yo baby, yo! In a fantastic case of wrestler recall, he actually remembered that it was in Charleston, SC. And it was in Charleston on September 13, 1991, where Gang refused to do a clean job for News and lost by DQ. Mike Graham called Dusty, Gang put his foot down, and he was sent home. Dusty called him later and asked him to come back and do the job, but Gang refused again. 

Analysis

To his credit, Gang admitted here that it was ego. Other than a short run in WCW between ’95 and ’96, he didn’t have another regular national run. He left a lot of money on the table, not doing the favors for the Rapmaster, as shitty as he may have been. You would think the guy who once graced the screen as Akeem would be less indignant.
