The Context 

Ivory had many matches with Lita in the WWF, including a singles match for the Women’s title at Survivor Series 2000. In this clip, Ivory discusses working with Lita and says Lita was too caught up in looking good rather than getting better. Ivory was still trying to be super friendly here, but did say Lita didn’t want to learn much when she started because she thought she was already great. She told a story about Lita accidentally bleeding during their singles match at Survivor Series and not really knowing how to make the most of it. She also called Lita “kind of Gumbyish” and made some physical gestures that perfectly explained what she meant. 

Analysis 

I will say, as someone who’s gone back and seen some Lita from the era Ivory is discussing, I can see why Ivory would be frustrated. Other women weren’t doing moonsaults, so even though she did one that looked rough most of the time, it was enough to get attention. But when I went back, I noticed she had a hard time running the ropes. It’s easy to concur with Ivory’s opinion. Also, “Gumbyish” for early Lita is spot on.
