12/16/1995 WCW Saturday Night: Eddie Guerrero def Jerry Lynn in 9:53: Yes, that’s right – We have Jerry Lynn in this match and not Mr. JL. For those wondering why he wrestled under the JL gimmick and hood, this match may be the best example of why, as Jerry looked like the most milquetoast human ever in television history. The man could have been the extra in any movie about someone working in an office, and the short hair did not help his cause. Jerry mostly worked as a babyface, so we got a ton of chain and mat wrestling to start. It wasn’t exciting, but the comatose crowd might be influencing my opinion, as I was legit worrying if there needed to be a welfare check on some people in the front row. They threw in the occasional big move, but not enough to capture the fans’ interest. Eddie worked a knee injury, causing Lynn to pounce and start working the leg immediately. In fact, the best part of the match might be Eddie’s selling of the knee, which was very strong, even after the match. Eddie made an abbreviated comeback, brainbuster, and frog splash (and he sold the knee through all of it) to end the bout. This match was extremely disappointing considering the participants, and the babyface vs. babyface dynamic made it too slow, even if the work itself was solid. **1/4
