WWF 07/24/1995: Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels def. Jacob & Eli Blu in 8:10. This was a dark match after a Raw in Louisville (the day after the second In Your House), and to say this crowd didn’t give much of a fuck would be an understatement. I thought this might have been after a marathon taping, but nope – it’s the fourth match on the show. Perhaps their apathy was a result of the crowd’s disappointment, as Bret & Shawn were originally scheduled to challenge Yokozuna & Owen Hart for the tag titles, but that plan was changed. Perhaps it was because this followed the Undertaker’s casket match against Kama. It’s also possible the Blus just sucked. They’re all suitable answers. I won’t pretend for a second that I’ve bothered to learn the difference between Ron and Don Harris or how their white supremacy tattoos may differ. It’s not like either needs credit for this anyway. This was very by the numbers and wasn’t poor, but Shawn and Bret looked like they were just trying to get through this. Shawn took a flip over the top when Dutch Mantel (Uncle Zeb) pulled the rope down, and he took his sweet ass time getting up. It didn’t seem like selling as much as being told he had to fill eight minutes with these stiffs. The most noise the match got was about twenty-five young women/children cheering for Shawn during the heat. Bret won with the sharpshooter after an extremely lukewarm tag and flurry. *1/2
