03/28/1985: Curt Hennig vs. Mr. Saito: If you’ve never seen young babyface Hennig, the body isn’t nearly as jacked, he looks like he has that Minnesota winter tan, and he’s not the huge bumper he’d become. Still, he did sneak in a few big bumps, but he did work to sell and get sympathy. At one point he screamed in pain when Saito worked the dreaded far East nerve hold. Saito was just his usual bulldozer self. All of his strikes looked good and he just fucking mauled Hennig with shots and holds. He also snuck in a badass fucking high angle suplex on the young second-generation wrestler. I’m not sure why the live crowd and myself bought into a couple of Hennig sunset flips, but we all did. The finish was pretty flat when Saito hit Hennig with a beefy right and pinned him with his feet on the ropes at 15:56.
