Before one set the other on fire.

03/27/2000 WCW Monday Nitro: Falls Count Anywhere: Sting & Vampiro vs. Ric Flair & Lex Luger: This was the Team Package days of Luger and Flair, an era often forgotten for good reason. This was a Panama Beach Soring Break Nitro, so we’re outdoors and HAVING FUCKING FUN! The babyfaces attacked the heels before the match while Lex was posing, in what I can only assume was for Sting to score cool old man points with the college kids in the crowd. It wasn’t long before Sting and Lex fought all over the resort. They were by the pool, and Tony yelled, “We don’t even have lights there!” Which, of course, meant Lex was getting backdropped into the shadows of the pool. Gotta love that WCW production. Hilarity ensued after. First, the pool must have been freezing because Lex scurried out and immediately went for Sting, but because both he and the ground were soaked, he had to gingerly tiptoe to avoid breaking his ass. Then, Lex shoved what I can only assume was a worker dressed as a waiter into the pool, and that dude took a great bump, projecting into the water. It was an act of spectacular pettiness by Lex. Vamp and Flair were having their clash of styles wrestling match in the ring while Sting was dunking Luger’s face into a dip and salsa. The two fought all the way to the ocean, where Tony freaked out about the saltwater of all things. The match finally ended with Sting giving Luger a piledriver on the beach in almost complete darkness in 5:28. I probably had way too much fun with this match, and I’m sure the internet collectively shit on it in 2000. Still, it was a fun pro wrestling match and segment that the crowd enjoyed. **1/2
