WWF World Tag Team Title Match: Dick Murdoch & Adrian Adonis (champions) def. Jack & Jerry Brisco in 14:12:

This match was from a house show at the Spectrum. It wasn’t long before Adonis and Murdoch dropped the straps, and Jack Brisco went home and called it a career. The audio on this isn’t very good, but it appeared the Philly savages lightly cheered the white meat babyface wrestlers with a smattering of boos. Luckily, they hated the guys they were supposed to hate, too. Maybe because Adonis was billed from New York and Murdoch because he was from the south, or breathing, or some other Philly may hate someone. Philly is the social media of the wrestling world – all negative and zero chill. Adonis and Murdoch were excellent opponents for the straight-edge wrestlers because while the babyfaces worked over the leg without mercy on the mat, Adonis would take a big bump, or Murdoch would start working in a bit of comedy to pick up the crowd. The Brisco Brothers might have done things a little slow on the mat initially, but they also mixed in a few moves and highspots on the leg they were working over to keep the crowd engaged. Jerry took a terrific beating, really drawing the crowd in more. The match was formulaic but had some nice little tweaks. The Jack Brisco comeback was simple, but you had two great bumping and selling heels, and the once apathetic crowd was even more into the match. Jack had a figure-four on Adonis when Murdoch blasted him in the ribs behind the ref’s back, giving the champs the win at 14:12. Yes, this started a little slow, but it built into a very good match. ***1/2
